It really depends what sort of place I’m in as some times listening to sad sort of music helps and is the only thing I can actually stand to hear, BUT I’ve had a think about it and these are some of the songs that have helped me through a lot. Some of them might seem a bit silly, but they’re my go-to happy songs that never fail to put a smile on my face when it’s needed or take my mind off things, and because I’m rambling I won’t explain what the songs mean for me but.. Here goes:

McFly – I’ll Be Okay, Love Is Easy, 5 Colours in Her Hair, One for the Radio
Hall & Oates – You Make My Dreams
Elliot Minor – Better Than The Courtroom and Running Away
Hanson – Lost Without Each Other and MmmBop
Fun. – We Are Young, Carry On
The Killers – Mr Brightside, When You Were Young
Owl City – Shooting Star (pretty much anything by him to be honest)

And I guess I should even if up a bit with songs that are a little less happy and a lot more meaningful:

Gavin Mikhail – Brave, Stay, Days Gone By, cover of I will follow you into the Dark
Hanson – Broken Angel, With You In Your Dreams, Underneath, I will come to you, Go, The Walk, Use Me Up, Me Myself and I, Wish That I Was There
McFly – Not Alone, I’ll Be Ok

*shushes*

What do you listen to when you need that pick-me-up or what helps you through the rough moments?

LOVE: Fun., The Killers, Owl City.

My personal favorite band for when I’m down is Maroon 5.

I’ve been Jamming out to: Pink “Try”, Katy Perry “Part of Me”, and Florence and the Machine “Shake it Out”.

I’m totally going to check out your favorites. Thanks for offering them out.

A few songs which have helped me the most:
MUSE – Knights of Cydonia
Mika – Relax
Evanescence – Tourniquet
Nightwish – While lips are still red
Kamelot – The Haunting
And I have a few mixes of native american music which is very soothing.

Instead of listing them all, I thought I’d just link you guys. These are a few of my favorite “feel good” type playlists. Just a warning, most of them have to do with dancing around in your underwear. Don’t be alarmed. The first two mixes are probably my favorites out of all of them. :)

These are some of my favourites so far for when I’m just sad:

Electric Light Orchestra – Mr. Blue Sky
Mind.in.a.box – Change
The Seatbelts (Cowboy Bebop OST) – Cats On Mars, Tank!, Ask DNA
Neuroticfish – Can’t stop a riot, They’re coming to take me away
The Carpenters – Calling Interplanetary Craft
Assemblage 23 – Lullaby
Prozzack – Sweeping Romance (when I’m particularly lonely)
Blue October – Hate me today

When I’m really, really, really angry – I just look up one of those EBM playlists and let it play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBZIBON0DGs

or I listen to the passive-aggressive music I can find (not that mad, but connotes certain things and has quite a few profanities and violent verses) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hci2kZ8DlJM

Sincerely,

Mr. Enigma

I’m going to have to take note, especially of those feel-good playlists of yours @wanderlust&pixiedust! Need a bit of music therapy right now. Loving seeing all the different kinds of tastes!

I actually have a playlist of happy songs, if anyone wants the link. Some of my favorites are Rainy Day by Coldplay, Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine, Shooting Star by Owl City, After the Storm by Mumford and Sons, Woodland by The Paper Kites, Runaway by Mat Kearney, Stay Stay Stay by Taylor Swift…wow I have a lot. It’s important to not listen to sad and depressing songs when you’re upset, because even if you can relate to what they’re saying, they’ll probably just worsen your mood. Hope this helps!

My top favorites that helped me are:
Almost Everything-Wakey!Wakey!
Fix You-Coldplay
Here Comes the Sun-The Beatles
Light Outside-Wakey!Wakey!
Don’t Dream it’s Over- Crowded House
Feel Again-Coldplay
For You I Will-Teddy Geiger

There’s a ton more to list but these are some good ones(:
