I actually watched My Neighbours the Yamadas and did not like it but that is my personal opinion and I think Rush by Ron Howard or October Sky or the original Karate Kid are all very good, particularly Rush.

I saw Rush and I loved it. A gritty film but I am not sure if I would categorize it as a typical “slice of life”. It very well may be but I havent cared to look it up. As far as I know, slice of life films are those which lack a coherent conflict and resolve.
