They say we are just children
Can’t change the world
but why is it a sin
to say what I have learned
because I am a teenager
I can’t know what I’m talking about
The world has deemed me a liar
so my words do not count
because it is not what they teach
not the words I’ve been told
its what I see in each
and every one year old
in the words they exchange
in the brilliance that is present
at such a young age
before they learn resentment
Why do you think me strange
why do you say I’m a dreamer
The potential for change
for this world to get better
is in the hands of those who still trust
even after they have been hurt
their dreams not turned to dust
so they do not lie in the dirt
kids have been been broken and beaten
all in the name of defiance
just for having an opinion
Yet still they do not sit in silence
are we really just children
whit no hope to change the world
just because we are not grown
just because we are not adult
