I have been thinking for the past few hours and i just have to ask, In self harm, is cutting or burning more harmful/worse, in your opinion? And no im not doing it, i have been cut free. I was just wondering.
In my eyes they're equally the same. Hurting yourself in any way is terrible. I've done both and I would say that although the type of pain is different, they're still both awful. I'm glad you're cut free and I wish you good luck on staying that way! :-)
Neither is worse. Both carry the risk of infection and death, both create lasting scars. Neither one is "worse", and by extension, neither one is "better".
I think burning has more potential to be lastingly harmful without you realising the damage you're doing... I mean, with cutting, unless you're totally out of control you basically know what you're doing. With burning, the damage can go a lot deeper than you intend. It's a lot less under your control.
HYPOTHETICALLY, I find that pressure works best. Something blunter than sharp but sharper than blunt. Fingernails work well. They create pain but don't leave long lasting marks.
Although as a human, I'm obligated to tell you that self harm isn't going to solve your problems, it's just going to push them down.
Im sorry but why would you give self harm advice?Jonathon is completely right, the problems need to be worked out with your emotions, not your nervous system.I wish you good luck
