Hi, Fellow EDU student here!Let me start off by saying that our major is insanely hectic and it causes you to hate it on numerous occasions. I almost threw my laptop so many times I lost count. BUT. When you get to student teaching (where I am now) it becomes the most rewarding major in the world. Many people in my class were good students. NOT GOOD TEACHERS!! Writing a lesson plan, writing a teaching philosophy, knowing the proper methods of assessment are all aspects of good students. I spent my college career in the middle part of the class. B's, the occasional A. Yet my supervisor thinks I have the natural ability to teach and it makes me much more effective than those who have a 4.0 and can recite what makes a good lesson.... but cannot make it come alive off the paper.I guess what I am saying is being in class does not foreshadow your success as a teacher. If you go to class enjoying what you learn that you may still be in the right major. It is hard to imagine yourself in front of students and teaching until you actually do so. If you have cousins or neighbors who are younger than you, try to teach them or help them with their homework. If you help them get something, you can do the same with any child.I hope this helps because I had the same problem just last year. Do not be afraid to follow your gut. Changing majors does not make you a failure and staying will not mean you will be unhappy forever. Just take some time to practice and decide. I really hope I helped in some way!
