Webster defines "Gnostic" as "relating to knowledge". So Gnostic only means "knowledge", though further definitions refer to mystical knowledge, this is not the conclusive definition. Therefore it follows that "Agnostic" means "without knowledge".

A Theist is a person who has belief in and follows a theism. A a-theist (such as myself) is a person who is without a belief in and does not follow a theism.

An agnostic would say "I do not know that there are no gods." an atheist would say "I do not believe that there are gods." So a person can be an atheist, an agnostic, even an agnostic atheist! A person can even be an agnostic theist!

I hope that clears things up. If you'd like to discuss this further, my inbox is always open at blahtherapy.com/members/blackholehead

Fun Fact: The iPhone is defined as "Carrier Agnostic" because it can function on any service towers.
