Decide how much (or if, at all) are you comfortable giving, knowing how things went in the past, and give that. Just because somebody needs us, it doesn't mean we have to expose ourselves to being used in ways that ultimately leave us resentful. How much support can you give to someone, knowing you will not be paid back in trust and loyalty? Find that quantity of effort you can give without expecting anything back.

You need to bring this to the attention of a trusted adult. You are not in a position to take on her problems. You can help her best by bringing an adult into the situation. A trusted adult can be someone at school, or you could even talk to a religious leader. If you went to them I hope they would get the former friend help. You have already shown kindness asking what to do for her.
