What do I answer as my ethnic origin?

I’m applying for college, and I’m not sure how to answer the question of whether or not I’m hispanic. My dad is half white, half mexican. My mother is white. I don’t speak spanish or celebrate holidays. But we have lots of family heirlooms of things our family had when they lived in Mexico, we don’t look white…
I’ve always checked non-hispanic, because I really didn’t know what to put. It has always been confusing for me. I don’t want to claim something I’m not.

Since both are honest, go with what might get you the best chance for acceptance and financial aid if necessary. That is regionally, and school specific.

Honestly, I don't think it'll make a huge difference. Put down whatever you think you should, and whatever you feel comfortable with. If you're used to checking non, just go with that.

my dad is full Mexican and my mom is European too. honestly Hispanic isn't a race its an ethnic group so your race would be white with Hispanic origin

If you want to tick the hispanic box then you should. it's not a lie, it's in your blood.
