Therapy fear…help???

0

So I really hate therapy. I’ve been twice and completely lied the whole time, hated the guy, will never ever go back to see him. The idea of therapy gives me anxiety and just terrifies me. I told this to my best friend who really REALLY wants me to get therapy because I am massively depressed and my parents won’t do ANYTHING about it. But I have convinced them to take me to therapy before so maybe I can again. My problem is that if I just go into it like last time I will lie through my teeth again and not actually get any help what so ever. So my friend said that he would go with me to the first appointment if I agreed to see a therapist. I think that would be absolutely perfect but…does anyone know if therapists allow that? That would literally be the only way I could begin to trust someone, if my best friend met them with me the first time I went. I think it would massively help me but again…DO THERAPISTS ALLOW THAT?????? Please respond if you know!!!

In my experience with therapists that would be totally acceptable! You just have to understand that your friend will know anything that comes up in the session, however that doesn't seem like it would be an issue (it sounds like you have a great friend!). When it comes to therapists you have to make sure you are comfortable with them or else it's a waste of time and money. If you don't feel comfortable, just leave. Hope that helps!

You always fear for unknown things. If you are afraid of ghosts, it is because you dont know about ghosts. So learn about your fears. you will eventually overcome them.
