Sleeping bag found in my alleyway?

1

Today I found a sleeping bag rolled up in a case in my alleyway and it’s both wet and dirty, suggesting it’s been used. My alleyway is completely pitch black at night and has a dead end when you go through it so there’s only one door-sized exit (it has a roof) for an entrance/exit, and I was wondering what could be the reason behind it.
I know that it could be nothing, but apparently it could be a homeless person and I was wondering if it is what should I do?

Is he harming anyone? If it is not private property leave the person be. Homeless are down on their luck. Yes, they may be on drugs or something, but that doesn't mean you need to get involved unless you see something dangerous. And by getting involved then, that means yes, calling the police. Otherwise, leave his stuff there. That could be his/her only means of staying warm. It's not yours. Leave it.

You could give the homeless man a home, and try to become friends.
