Shes loved me for years…

We had sex one time and it was super awkward kind of ruined it for me actually. Anyway she’s been trying to get with me for over 8 years and I have no idea why, were friends through best friends and used to hang a lot with the group and I love her but I just can’t date her, how do I tell her without being too… blunt? and get her to move on?

I think you may have to be blunt with her in this situation. If she's felt this way for eight years then whatever you've been doing hasn't sent the message. I think the next time she says something about liking you or asking you to date her you have to straight out tell her you'd just like to be friends. You don't have to be mean about it, just tell her that you really care about her but you think that friendship is the way to go for you two. Good luck!

There's not perfect way, no way that isn't going to hurt her. If you are looking for a script, maybe this can help:

"No matter what you may have assumed till now, and no matter for what reason you assumed it, I have no romantic interest in you whatsoever. I am certain I never will. I expect that knowing this, you’ll put your attention elsewhere, which I understand, because that’s what I intend to do."

Well sometimes you just need to be blunt. I am not asking what are the causes you're not dating her, since you've mentioned that you already love her. And she loves you back. But i guess, you have some problems, family/soceity/friends of your group, and much more for which you are not dating her. She waited for 8 long years, don't give her fake hopes anymore. Make her understand, and i don't think you two can ever be friends, since you truely love each other. But if you don't want to date her, because of the circumstances, which i mentioned earlier, then just tell her. Her heart will be broken either way, if you tell her now, or 2-3 years later. But whatever you do don't delay, if you slightest bit care for her, and i guess you do since you two are best friends. Offtopic, i wanna say Just think for a bit, if you want a girl, who is loyal, and matches you're type, she might be the one!

Not every girl you know is going to be the girl for you. If I were you, talk to her about this.
