Scared of timers and the dark?

0

Ok so, let’s just get right into this.
I’m scared of the dark. I admit it. That’s why I need to sleep with a night light.
But the problem is..
If it’s on all night I wake up with a major headache and bad mood..
Soo my mom found this timer thing where it turns off automatically and I thought it was a really good idea and tried it out.
BUT turns out I can’t fall asleep because I KNOW it’s going to turn off and I have an extreme fear of it turning off before I fall asleep, or even worse, WAKING UP WHEN IT’S OFF!
Like the other night I woke up randomly at 4 AM exactly and the light was still on and I got scared and turned off the timer.
And I feel really restless if it’s on the timer and it seems impossible to relax.
Help me what should I do?
I don’t wanna wake up with a headache but I also don’t wanna risk this.

Would something like a sleep mask scare you? You would put it over your eyes to block out the light, but you could keep the nightlight in your room on.

Maybe get a big stuffed toy? I know this sounds weird but I used to be scared of the dark, the main reason being that I thought 'ghosts' would come and haunt me until my mom bought me a big teddy bear. And for some strange reason, I grew less afraid and was able to sleep well.
