Religion?

0

Alrighty, so I’ve been religious before. Anyways, I don’t go around saying it’s totally real or isn’t because i don’t know which makes my anxiety go up. The catholic church in my town wants me to try to get confirmed & get my communion, & if i was to go to church I don’t know if it would be catholic because i don’t share their beliefs..
Any advice would be just grand, thanks! Hope you all have an amazing day!

Do your own research, question everything, and don't allow anyone to coerce or bully you into any belief. You learn for yourself, not what others tell you is right. Never be afraid to ask "How is this right?"

If you decide to join a church that teaches beliefs you don't agree with, don't you feel it's disrespectful to yourself and more importantly God? Ignore those that judge you and try to force their views. You have to follow your heart when it comes to spirituality and religion.

Have you considered looking into Universal Unitarianism? I just discovered it recently and intend on visiting a church in my area. Pretty much what it seems like is a bunch of people with lots of different beliefs and views who all accept eachother's beliefs and views and look for truth while being a part of a community. Just an idea :)

When you say you've "been religious before" are u referring to attending mass or attending a Catholic church regularly? Or simply that you've been interested in religion before? Within the Christian tradition (since that is what you're considering), there are a million different ways of doing things and different approaches--each with their areas that they excel in or need improving. The liturgy-heavy, repetitive, and highly symbolic nature of the Catholic church and other Orthodox traditions may not be the best place for someone with the doubts and questions that you have. If I were you I'd politely decline, and maybe pursue something a little easier to grapple with...something Protestant, non-denominational-ish. The focus there is more on relationships, is a little more straightforward, and focuses and less on traditions that may seem odd and uncomfortable. Just a little note: if you ever meet a religious group who tells you they know 100% that their beliefs are correct: RUN. No one has the answers, and the most honest and helpful religious groups will tell you that immediately.

You can practice any religion you want , and you don't necessarily have to believe in what you are told to believe in. You can even just think of everything religiously that you want to believe in and put that together and believe in that.
