Police Logic?

so my sister was assaulted tonight, she was taking her dog out and she had her 3 year old by her side. This random crazy lady goes up to her and starts beating her in front of her child. She left her with a swollen eye, and the cops found the lady. She says “Ya, i beat her, i was angry” and the cops didn’t do anything to her? They just gave her a slap on the wrist & walked away. no charges….. nothing. Can someone please explain how this works? Why she wasn’t put in jail? She’s a loon! this lady always tries to g=have a car run her over so she can claim money. I swear she’s something else…. My parents said its because the lady wasn’t holding a weapon, that she didn’t get arrested. I don’t understand this police logic, this lady is insane and even wanted to beat her child. My sister took the beating instead.

Well, maybe you didn't get the full story, I doubt the police did absolutely nothing. Police usually come with a bad reputation because of the 1% that make the 99% look bad. Just because the person didn't leave in cuffs doesn't mean nothing happened. Here are some possibilities of what could have happened, and remember, since there is a police response, there is a record of it so your sister can always request a copy of the report.

1) The person was cited and released on site. This is very common now since the jails are becoming very over-crowded.

2) The person was held for W.I.C. 5150 for a mental evaluation

3) Your sister didn't desire prosecution or refused to testify in court because it was a citizen's arrest.

4) If the police officer didn't see the assault and there is not enough evidence to arrest, they will file a report and send it to your district attorney to see if they want to prosecute.

Again, the things I listed above may not be the case, have your sister request a copy of the report so you can know for sure.

MEANWHILE teenagers on the internet make jokes and get their house raided and charged with felony "terroristic threats" and growing plants are illegal, and well a giant list of other people who get fked by our system. What do we do about it? NOTHING, just some of us complain on the internet. Like me... Right now... What she needs to do is go to the police station and get the police report, then go to the courthouse and ask where do you go file to make a warrant for someones arrest. Yes, people can do this. There is a fee though, just pay the fee, show the evidence to the judge, and the judge should do it.

Im not sure what she did yet, all i know is that the police did not want to arrest the woman, she got away with it as her usual crimes go. Many people have called the police on her and she's never been detained etc. They just tell her "You can't do that" like talking to a 5 year old. & sadly, there was a old man who just stood there and watched her get beaten. He was an ex navy officer and did nothing to help. Very upsetting, but he didn't call the police or anything. :/ He lives right by her, just standing there...... watching
