Need some advice, ASAP.

Tomorrow I’m supposed to go and have some oral surgery to get my wisdom tooth removed and the tooth next to it also. I have never, ever had surgery and I have an extremely irrational fear of getting put under, I’m so afraid that I won’t wake up that I’ve put this surgery off for 6 months and basically have dealt with the excruciating pain with no meds because of my panic disorder I don’t take anything because I’m afraid of having a negative reaction to it, I won’t even take advil or use orajel. Anyways, and if and when I do wake up from the surgery I’m extremely afraid of freaking out because I know that the medication isn’t worn off sometimes for another hour or two. Then like I said I don’t do medication and I know I’m going to have to take some Vicodin or something similar. Any advice on this whole situation because I’m completely freaking out about it.

Tell the technician you're terrified of needles and that you want laughing gas first. You'll be so high that nothing will even matter.

Also, I've never heard of anyone dying getting their wisdom teeth out. You'll do great. Just follow doctors orders.

They'll perform a general anesthesia to remove two wisdom teeth? Interesting, I'd think a simple local anesthesia would work. But there's no worries to have about surgery. There's absolutely no complication risks in these kinds of procedures. You'll live, and you'll have better teeth (well two teeth removed, but it's for the sake of your dental health) in the process. Just remember it's temporary and there's absolutely no risk. Yes it'll be a strange unknown experience, but tons of people experience it every day and they don't die from it, they don't get hurt from it. Think of it as the first time eating at a new restaurant. There's people all around you eating the same food, people all around the world have praised the food and the restaurant for its quality. You know the food isn't poisonous but it might give you a little bit more stomach work than usual (no major problems, only temporary stomach uneasiness), but the food is so good. Would you eat it? You know what will happen (just like for your surgery) before, during and after. So you have nothing to worry about the food, stomach problems, dental surgery or the aftermath. Stay strong man, you'll get through it :)

Yeah man they have to put me under because my wisdom teeth are attached to the sides of my jawbone in an abnormal way. But, thanks for the advice I appreciate it.

I should also state that as for the after care - you'll be in enough pain that you'll want the good drugs that they give you. And, it's noble of you to not take those other things it will assure you that these will work to relieve your pain faster.

Take it as a challenge. Overcoming paranoia is very empowering.
