Need help related to my future

0

Hello everyone. I’m currently a 2º year college Student. I’m pretty fluent in many languages, my most recent one being japanese (even though I’m still learning it). I always dreamed about moving to Japan as soon as I finish my degree in translation. The thing is I never went to Japan. And my dad doesn’t really believe I can make it on my own there.
So I want to ask, does anyone know any good methods to get more into their culture and getting my japanese level better? I want to know what I’m getting into to.
I don’t know exactly what to do… help? I want to make my dream come true and fit on the japanese society.

I would recommend visiting Japan for a week or two before you actually move there. You know, see if it's what you expected. By being in Japan, you can see, taste, and touch the culture. Visiting gives you an idea of Japanese culture more than any book would.

Like Lexx told you, I suggest you to visit Japan before moving there. I know that you're pretty confident in your dream, and you want to live there, but since you never went to this country (especially this country, we're not talking about England or America here) it would be better visiting the place before. Being in touch with the people, with their coulture, with their food, try to do an Erasmus with your college if you can, you might be able to stay there for more than three months, you would study and have time to visit the place. You will get used to it, and who knows, maybe you'll become even more attached to this country, or you might not like living there after all, and it would be better to discover it before than later. Good luck! ;)

I think the best option is the one Lexx suggested, you can't know how something truly is until you experience it yourself. Also, if it turns out that you don't enjoy is as much as you thought you would, you'd have saved yourself the shock and being stuck living there, since it would be just a visit.
