Lost all confidence/scared

0

I’m 17 and I only had my license since March (which took me 5 tries to get). I only started college a month ago and i’ve only started driving by myself for that long. Today I drove to the campus no problem at all. I go to drive home and at first everything is fine, but then i notice something is wrong. At first i thought it was a gear shift. Long story short. I was a black away from my mom’s store which is wear i drop the car off to her when I notice that I’ve been driving on the rim of my tire. I kept driving cause i knew i would be there in 1 minute so i did and thankfully I made it.

Now before any of you decide to comment how stupid i am, or how dangerous that is, or how illigal that is, I am only a new driver, and I do have a learning disability. I know my mistake. So if your going to write anything like that, don’t bother commenting. I lost all my confidence and I’m sort of scared to drive again. I’m also stressed about school and I just feel horrible. And i’m starting to question whyI even have my lisence in the first place

I'm in Driver's ed right now, so I don't know how helpful my advice would be, but I think the best thing to do is to just plunge back in and keep going. When your learning to ride a bike and you fail, you have to keep trying, and I'd say the same goes for driving. Maybe looking up "signs your driving on the rim of your tire" and "what to do if your driving on the rim of your tire" might help with confidence, that way if it happens again you'll be able to identify it sooner and you'll know what to do.

I'm also a fairly new driver I got my license during the summer and I'm 19, I got it on my first try but it took me so long because no one could teach me anyway. My friends are also in the process of being new drivers practically and I know at least one of mine also says she doesn't want to drive anymore because her dad is a backseat driver and yells at her for everything. But you just can't lost confidence in yourself, we are human we are bound to make mistakes you know? I know I got a parking ticket and I was so upset about it and I didn't even tell anyone about it and I started to feel down on myself for being so stupid. But it happens, my sister even said she's done that a few times. So don't get too down on yourself for it. I think every driver has those stories where they did something really dangerous or stupid it's just apart of the process of learning. Anyway if you even have questions about college I would be happy to help you out with that, feel free to message me if you want.

If you don't make mistakes, you're not trying hard enough.
