Is lack of sleep related to anxiety and difficulty concentrating?

2

I have always had trouble sleeping. And I always though it was because of anxiety. I would have trouble falling and staying asleep , but I was able to rest, and take small naps. I had a period of time when my sleep was just normal… But lately I am not able to sleep, at all. I think that in the last 3 days I probably slept less than an hour all together. My anxiety increased a lot in these days, and I have a huge difficulty concentrating in anything. I don’t know if the anxiety keeps me awake or if the lack of sleep keeps me anxious… Is there anything that could be causing this?

Scientifically, yes, lack of sleep is directly correlated with problems concentrating, and people with insomnia often enter a vicious cycle of being too anxious to fall asleep, then have difficulty concentrating which leads to even more anxiety and therefore less sleep. It's definitely a possibility. I find on the nights I have trouble that listening to some Two Steps from Hell helps, but my issues are less severe than yours. Best of luck!
