Is it worth it to get help for an eating disorder?

1

Ive been struggling for about a year now and many of my close friends are pushing me to get help for recovery. Im scared to tell my parents about it because I doubt theyd understand and I don’t know if im ready to quit just yet. Do the pros of getting help outweigh the cons?

It is very important that you seek help for an eating disorder. It is a disease like any other and you will benefit from treatment.

It really is worth getting help. I suffered through it. I had the same issue, I was afraid to tell my parents. I didn't want anyone to see me as being broken, but the pros of help are much better, I promise. Honestly, I'm still fighting it a little but you have to get help somehow. You can do it, I believe in you. Listen to your friends, if they're worried about you, you should be worried, too. Friends try to agree to keep the peace, so if they're bringing it up, they want you to get better.

Honestly, this is a very complicated question. If you are overweight, it could be normal. If you are underweight, GET HELP. Eating disorders are very hard to judge. The main problem is being happy with yourself. If you, as a person, are "healthy", then you should get help.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO GET HELP FOR AN ED. I cannot emphasize on this enough but EDs are a living hell. Your happiness will be ruined, you'll obsess over what other people will think of you, you won't do certain things out of fear that you'll look fat and stupid and etc. Please, seek help so you can get better so that you can have happiness and accept yourself just the way you are. Because you are beautiful just the way you are.

You definitely want to get help as soon as possible. The process will be long, but it's of the better.

I know first hand, it's difficult, but once you push yourself to do it, like making yourself get on that scary roller coaster, you feel so liberated. I could refer you to a few national hotlines and services, but I highly urge you do so because at the time it may be hard, but I guarantee the results will compensate ten-fold. (: Message me if your interested in those links.

of course it's easier to say this then literally do it, but getting the help is very worth it. i struggled myself with an eating disorder and depression and i know exactly how you feel but in all honesty no one deserves to weigh down their happiness and everyday lifestyle with any sort of disorder etc. especially with eating disorders, they can lead to further unhappiness and like i said no one deserves that. ive gotten the help that was necessary and honestly the willpower and strength to get better plus the therapy etc is so worth it and i highly recommend it. x
