It's neither perverted nor wrong to want to be more comfortable with ones of the other gender. Precisely because sometimes ones of the same gender will judge like this. Girls so frequently seem to want to point out what's wrong with another and it goes the same for guys. I honestly think you're probably getting a better perspective of things when you're seeing it from someone of a different gender. Nothing is perverted nor wrong until someone else just decides it for themselves and tried to persuade a certain majority into thinking the same thing.. but really you're fine. You should just keep at your ground and do things how you feel most comfortable. :)
