How would one tell their family that they want to be a vegan?

My family are huge carnivores and don’t appreciate the vegan lifestyle. However, I support animal welfare and don’t want meat (or any animal product really) in my diet. How can I tell them that I want to eat vegan? I’m mainly scared that they won’t support me.

Being prepared to research and cook your own food will help a lot. If you want to be a healthy vegan you really need to focus on getting your own food right, you can't just eat all of what they eat except meat/dairy/etc or you will end up missing nutrients. They will respect your decision a lot more too if they see your determination to do it. You might however do well to look at vegetarianism as a step first as from what it sounds you do currently eat meat, just so it isn't such a big jump. If you're committed to a life-choice I would expect it to have more staying power if you ease yourself into it and as you get more confident working out your food and what you need to be healthy, move more into the end goal.
