How to be a good waitress?

I have no experienced on being a waitress. I just went for an interview a few days back. I just wanna gain an experience while working. It’s a newly open small cafe which was own by a local artist here from Singapore and they are hiring waitress/waiter currently and I believed there’s a lot of teenagers who applied for it. I haven’t start working yet because I was waiting for them to call me and ask me for my availability on when to work as said by them. So what are the qualities of becoming a waitress? And how do you deal a harsh/demanding worker/chef there? Because I saw my ex junior from high school have started work before me and that is what she said. The chefs there are so strict towards them and sometimes punish them for ntg. That is what she said/warn me..

Honestly, I think the least of your worries should be the chef; as long as you're doing the job right and aren't being a slacker, I can't see a reason as to why he will be rude to you (If you're constantly on your phone, then that will surely piss him off, so put it away during your shifts! My rule in life is, if you have a job or you're a student, then you don't have time for texting!). The main issue will probably be the people; they might get you on your nerves (been there, done that, trust me on this one)! That's why I say try to smile (but not too much xD) and sound cheerful when you first talk to them; you don't necessarily have to keep this attitude for the rest of the time you treat them, the first impression is the most important and being too cheerful all day can be exhausting. It honestly scares me a bit if I go to a restaurant and the waiter looks like I killed his mother or something xD. Also, be ready for lots of flirting from people of the opposite sex; at some point it can get really annoying, but it's also a good way you could meet someone cute too ;).
