How to avoid masturbation?

0

I’ve really got to get over this habit. I used to do it daily, but now usually I can go a week until urges appear again. I really don’t want to give in, and I need advice. What can I do every night that will help me get my mind off of it and to avoid it?

Masturbating every once in a while isn't unhealthy, keeping it at about once a week is perfectly acceptable! If you want to quit it completely though you want to find something to keep yourself busy with such as exercising, taking a jog or something!

I don't feel like enough info was given to give thorough advice so I am just going to assume you have a well thought out personal conviction about it or possibly even addiction. If you have a personal conviction about something it does make it wrong for you. I disagree with what others have said here about it causing problems if you don't participate in it. There are plenty of people in the world who are not sexually active nor masturbate and function perfectly fine. It is not necessary to act on every single urge one has. It is a very personal choice. Also, if you find that masturbation is becoming too much of a compulsive distraction and getting in the way of living normally in some way then that would technically be an addiction. Obviously being addicted to anything isn't healthy. Anyway, here are some tips that might prove helpful: http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-a-Masturbation-Addiction

I don't see that as bad habit. In fact, it's one way to prevent STDs to spread. By masturbating you won't do unnecessary sex, which will prevent STD to infect you. But it's a personal choice, whether you want to stop or not. Doing something positive to tire your body is a good way to prevents masturbation too btw, for example gym.

Masturbation is part of growing up and even adults do it. You really don't want to repress such a feeling because it'll come back to bite you in the ass later in your life and I tell you it's not going to be a walk in the park. Repressed feelings/sexual urges are what create sexual deviants. My best advice to you is give in and masturbate as often as you feel like. You are not doing anything wrong, bad, immoral, or hideous. You are not crazy for wanting it and you are not a pervert for doing it. You are you and you are a perfectly healthy male growing up. Disregard anything "holy books" have told you, they are the ones who usually spread b.s like that yet promote slavery, rape, incest, killing your own children, hating your own parents. And always remember, as long as what you are doing does not impose on other peoples right and liberties, and as long as it doesn't harm anyone, it's not wrong, bad or immoral. Other people are all that for telling you differently.

Guys, you must be poorly informed because in order to get infected with an STD you need to have unprotected sex and the other person has to have it. STD do not just spontaneously manifest during sex.

What you're doing isn't unhealthy. Even if you did it every day it wouldn't be unhealthy. It's part of a normally functioning sex-drive to have regular urges. Perhaps you were raised in a culture that places a lot of shame on sexual urges, but it wouldn't be a problem that needs to be treated, unless it started to affect the quality of your life. If someone who couldn't stop masturbating, to the point that they did it at school, and at work, and at stop lights, THEN that would be a problem. But you sound normal to me! Don't worry about it! Take care!

Funfact: masturbation prevents many diseases and pain. If you're female it also helps prevent yeast infections. Masturbation also releases stress and helps cure insomnia.

There is nothing wrong with masturbating. It us totally normal to have urges and to pleasure yourself if you want to. So I say don't worry as long as you aren't doing it out in public keep doing it. It can actually be a great stress relief & sometimes can help you sleep.
