Try to get out there and do the things you love. Never be afraid to talk to someone if they seem nice. If you like reading go to a library, and introduce yourself to people. Say hi. There was once a time in everyone's lives where we didn't have friends.
Get involved in an online community, and slowly get acquainted with multiple people, until some make it to friends. Slowly, so you get used to it, without expecting to getting results instantly. For real life, any meetup.com event you might fancy? A class of something with other people, see if somebody is friendly? Here too, slowly. Take it easy, no pressure.
Try to break out of your shell. Start by talking to kids in your classes. Just short conversations until you get more comfortable. There are people out there in the same position as you are. Try something new.
Il happily be your friend :)
But as for people in your area, you could try some volunteer work, social club activities or a club of a hobby you enjoy?
You could meet a lot of like minded people that way :)Lots of love xx
