Basically try to think of all the bad things you didn't like about your ex and focus on them. Don't turn that into hatred or anything, just to help you realize that they weren't right for you. You don't need to rely on others to make you feel happy or special, just find something about you that you like. If you need to, try new things to get your mind off of them. Just be sure that what you're trying isn't dangerous or harmful to anyone, including yourself. Don't do things that completely make you uncomfortable.
