The thing with mental torment or depression is that it tricks you into think that you can't take anymore. That you were always this way and that you were always unhappy. Similar to what Nick said, definitely find ways to cope as it helps tremendously. Find something you truly enjoy to do, that actually makes you feel productive. This in turn, makes you so concentrated on what you love that you literally forget about being mentally tortured. Also, I say this a lot but no one is alone in this world, remember that.
