How can I get my parents to agree to follow my dream?

0

Recently I’ve been accepted to tour the United States. I’ve never been so happy in my life, I decided to tell my parents about this wonderful news. They said no, I keep trying to convince them that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. They said I’m too young, I am perfectly capable of doing this. This is what I want to do, I know I have to do this but they won’t listen.

Would you be able to give us some more information? Are you under 18, is this something your parents would have to pay for? What is this tour for? What are you currently doing now (i.e. are you in school/will this tour disrupt your education?)

they're parents, they're just looking out for you. Thinking about their kid traveling the states probably worries them! It's not that you're not capable or that they don't want to support your dreams, I'm sure they do and I'm sure they're happy you got offered this opportunity. That is an awesome opportunity, one day you can fulfill your dreams, don't give it up. If you're still young, you have time to do these things you want to do.

Have you thought about sitting down with your parents and working out what it is that worries them about this opportunity, and what you can do to negotiate with them?

You are 15 years old, and frankly I agree with your parents
