I'm assuming you mean the Christian God?
Being Christian does not mean you have to be religious. Praying and talking to God takes a bit of effort at first, but you begin to build a relationship with him, it'll be like talking to a friend, or whatever God is to you. For some people, he's a friend. Some people need a father, and that's what he is. I knew a marine who viewed God as his mean strict drill Sargent, and that's exactly what he wanted! Tell God you're sorry for what you've done and that you want him to come back into your life, and that you want to have a relationship.
Find a good church with a pastor you'd feel comfortable talking to.
Go by faith from there.
