Depressed about the future?

0

Everyday, as I learn more about the world’s problems and how it gets worse over the years, I can’t help but feel depressed and anxious on what kind of future the world is going to have. Environments are being destroyed, more species are becoming endangered, pollution, unemployment rates raising fast etc. Do we, as a species, have any hope left? Because for me, all I see is despair. :’( How do I stop letting this fear rule my life?

Put your help to make the difference, there are many ways to have an eco friendly life, you can also start a campaign aimed at raising awareness to our enviroment and nature, that would help your community :)and not everything's lost... scientifics are providing a whole new world of alternatives, we're changing the way we live, it's slow it takes time so if everyone puts it's little help it will make a big change.

the world will never be perfect, but you can help make it a better place. After we die, the world will go on. Don't let the state of the world rule your life, with your life try to make the world a place people want to live in. enjoy your friends and family. help others, be kind.

Hello Mark,

I know very well how you feel as many years ago I was rather depressed with the state of the world. It seemed to me that there was far more evil and negativity in the world than positivity and good. I didn't want to live in a world like this anymore... it kept me up at night and weighed heavily on me during the day. I eventually took a course in philosophy that gave me a new perspective on life. I would say it brought me 50% of the way to where I am now. I also cut out most all media. I don't subscribe to television... I will not read any new medium. People think I'm crazy because I don't keep up with world events but people don't realize how much doom and gloom is in the news... simply because it sells better. There was a story I heard once of a news paper that decided to only write positive stories and it failed horribly.

Cutting out all the negativity of the news has made a pretty big difference. It would seem like I'm just ignoring the bad but what you end up with is seeing more of the good. There are wonderful random acts of kindness that occur around us every day. I see tons of heart warming stories on facebook and far less of the tragedies. This allows you to build up your happiness and thick skin towards the evil in the world. You may even be motivated to fend off the evil with some good deeds yourself. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." - Edmund Burke

I recently committed some of my philosophy notes to this website. The happiness notes may help you out and you can find them here: Philosophy of Happiness

live in the moment responsibly prepare for the future not worry about it as I have learned you don't worry for a big exam no you study and prepare are responsible but still let your self enjoy the moment responsibly without ever living in the moment you will be 85 years old and your grand kids are going to be your current age ask what where you favorite things to do at their age and you wont be able to name one thing not one thing let loose a little enjoy your cake some don't just stare at it the whole time till its stale.
