How to Tell My Parent?

After 3 years of being together and knowing each other, We’ve finally decided to have sex. with me being 17 and he’s 19, I believe thats pretty good to have waited so long. Even tho I know having sex before marriage isn’t right, things just happen sometimes. I just don’t know how to tell My mother. Tell her about my first time and also discussing birth control. I want to be on birth control because theres no telling what may could happen. How do I start off by telling her. Or is it possible if i could go to the doctor myself and put myself on birth control in the Alabama area.?

I had friends that were in your shoes. They had very strict mothers at that but after explaining the situation and an argument or 2 later, their mothers realize that birth control was the best solution. Tell her I promise she will understand. Good luck on your relationship as well.

Being as you aren't 18 yet, it would be best to tell her, who knows, she might be pretty cool about it. It is always best to be honest with your mom, it helps create a better relationship, she does want what is best for you after all. Besides, most states, if not all states require a parent/guardian signature/permission to get anything that is a prescription, birthcontrol included.

Mom's can sometimes surprise you. There are a lot of things that I agonized over before finally telling my mom about thinking that she would be so pissed, but she was pretty cool with it. So just be honest with her. Tell her up front you want to be on birth control because you are sexually active. She might get mad, you all might fight, but in the end I am sure she really just wants what is best for you - and in this case, that seems to be the best most logical option.
