Coming out of the closet?

0

I’m 27 and still firmly in the closet to my family, I’ve attempted to tell them but each time I do I get sick to my stomach and the words won’t come out. How do I get past my fear of admitting it? I’m out to my friends and in the other aspects of my life, I just fear what will happen in my home life.

I suggest doing this slowly. Work your way up with the rest of your family. Start at first with telling the one family member who you are sure will support you or maybe someone who wont treat you differently. And then after that, bring that person along when you tell the rest of your family. It could help defuse any tension you are feeling...Hope for the best!! :)

Although I don't have personal experience with this, I have had many friends have the same problem as you. The best advice I can give you is just be honest with your parents. Try and figure out a day to tell them and stick to it. The longer you keep it inside the longer it will eat you up inside for keeping it a secret for so long. Maybe practice on a friend of how you are going to tell them and go from there. Just remember they are your parents, and they will love you no matter what.
