Yeah all of these obviously affect who wins or not, but my original point was that you can’t simply look at match stats like possession and number of shots to decide who ‘should have won’. Take Colombia for example, they play a system where they let the other team keep the ball for most of the match and then attempt to counter using the pace in their side. If you look at their stats against Japan you will see that Japan had more possession, more shots, more tackles etc. but anyone who watched the match will know that Colombia were by far the batter side. Stats like this need to be used in context for them to have any meaning really.

Anyone with any sort of a mind wouldn’t place a bet on England to win :p I do see your point though. For me this World Cup has been great; lots of goals, star players performing, shocks.. its had the lot so far.
