I remember waking up with my parents next to me, and a nurse on my other side consistently asking questions, but I felt out of touch. I felt my eyes wandering and my hearing wouldn’t focus, like I was trying to believe I was really gone. I then came to the realization that everything around me was real, my parents, the nurse… I felt a wave of anger and disappointment.
