Really glad that your moving forward in an area that has had problems. Hoping the best for you! As a homegrown Canadian I can say this Country holds alot in store for you! Now there are goods and bads always remember that.
I would highly recommend against settling in the maritimes, now they are some of the most beautiful provinces and they have some of the nicest people too. However they have been hit worst for financial perspective and there are no jobs. Out of your two choices I feel Vancouver is defiantly the better side as I am a Westerner Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Colombia for life!! Beautiful city with the ocean right there! Though sadly it has been having some problems with the rising drug problems. I have no info on Toronto though sorry.
