Hi I just joined the site, I love the idea of helping others out, listening to them, helping them through tough times.I really love the listening part! It gives me so many new perspectives… Anyway I just came across the first problem I wasn’t sure I could handle, I know there will be others and I was wondering if there are links and/or advice that might have helped. What advice do you give to someone who has to support a person dealing with grief (over death of a loved one)and is also showing violent behaviour towards herself. I found one link

any others?

Informative but it could be more gay friendly.

^^^^very true Riseandrep and after I posted it here I saw that it was a Christian site too, so its very much about abstaining from sex but what I liked about it was that it gave a lot of “real stories” and went into a lot information about things that are often not talked about. Also for Christian guy’s it reasons why god wouldn’t hate them for masturbating and actually encourages it, which I think is healthy for people of that faith.

Yeah it was nice in that it allows masturbation despite having a religious platform but it can be problematic when it puts on the same level straight people possibly finding awkward later having experienced mutual masturbation, and gay people, for whom it would be really more of a true sexual experience with another person and not something that would really “make them gayer”. So it’s up to the listener to adapt the messages from that site when talking to diverse venters.

Yeah that’s true Risendrep, I do think that caution should be used in relation to that site but I think it’s still useful for it’s honest stories from other guys going through similar problems.
I have another site here which I think is a good tool to use for when people are racked with negative thought.

This site has some resources for children who’ve grown up with difficult parents (parents who have cluster B & C personality disorders) (:

This is an article I find myself going back to or referring and I think it’s definitely something that more people should be aware of and learn from regarding recognizing signs of being suicidal and how to help them;

I dont have useful articles that i can refer, though somewhat childish, most of my advice comes from these sites
zenpencils.com
its a webcomic that makes the it easier for people to understand the morals of famous literary works and quotes, by putting it in an understandable medium
i use this as reference for advising people with self-esteem and self-confidence issues
You’d be surprised by how much lessons on life and love i learned from these comics,
Though at first it would seem dirty or childish, understand that its just part of the japanese culture but the morals are life applicable, i suggest you give these a read
