I tried. I tried so hard to stop eating so I could finally loose all the weight I’ve gained, because of my stupid fucking medications. But NO. I can’t. I have no self-discipline. It’s too hard. I just eat and eat and fucking eat and it drives me mad. I’m too tired and drained to work out and when (if) I do, I just get so frustrated it doesn’t work and it definitely doesn’t last. I’ve tried and tried not to eat, but I always do. I just feel so. fucking. fat.

Hi there,
Its doesn’t sound to me like you have no self-discipline, from what you have said it sounds your survival instinct is just very strong which is a good thing.
Everyone needs food to survive and if you do genuinely want to loose weight, starving yourself for periods of time can actually hinder that. Because when you deny yourself food it can slow down your metabolism-as in your body goes into survival mode/shock and slows down in order to conserve energy as it doesn’t know when its going to get fuel/food again.
If your weight is really bothering you and you want to loose it for the right reasons, being healthy etc. then i would advice maybe consulting with a professional-i dont know your age but if your still in school, maybe a school nurse?
You don’t want to loose the weight too quickly either because you don’t want extra skin and all the other complications that can be caused from loosing weight unhealthily.
It could be that you might actually need to eat more often in order to boost your metabolism, such as eating less more often.
Hope this helps,
Wishing you the best.

Again, maybe I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but bodily standards are pushed onto society by the drug industry. I mean have you seen how many slimming drugs are there on the market?! I mean, look at the history of female portrait in art: throughout the history the definition of ‘sexy’ was changing like mad, and it has ALWAYS been conditional: for example, in the earliest society, big women were considered the sexiest, because they had more chance of survival. Same was true for medieval society, due to the low medical standards and social inequality, as the poor and the sick were thin, while the rich and powerful were heavy built and big. It changed throughout the history, and I believe it has already changed several times in 21st century.

@impracticaldreams Hey there.
First off relax, take a deep breathe. Being overwieght isn’t the best thing but it isn’t the end of the worl either.

Now, the thing about losing weight is that you need a HEALTHY diet not cutting down all food. Secondly diets are useless without exercise. So what your gonna do is snack all you want, but on healthier things, nuts and fruits and vegetables. That way no matter how much you eat its mostly vitamins, water and fibre. Everything that is good for your body.
Exercising or any kind of physical activity is hard, especially after medication, so start of slow. Walk half an hour at a normal pace. You will come back to find yourself feeling better. Take it in baby steps. You shouldn’t expect drastic results in only a little while and the main reasons diets don’t work is because people push themselves too hard at first. So take it slow. Take it easy and focus on being HEALTHIER not thinner.

Lastly, weight gain is often a side effect of medication so stop blaming yourself for it. You have the same amount of self control then most of the people on the planet. So be happy, be healthy and contact me if you need a dieting buddy ;) it’s time I started working out :P

It’s a good thing that you eat. Don’t try to not eat that’s not healthy. Exercise takes time to come into effect, maybe if it was tied with a diet that involved balanced meals you can gain some energy back and feel more motivated to exercise. You sound like you are so motivated to not eat maybe you should put that into eating balanced meals and exercising even if it is only for 10 minutes each day. It takes time but after a while you may start to notice a difference.

Hello m’dear! I’m currently a recovering anorexic and I can tell you right now, that whatever you’re hoping to achieve from starving yourself, whether it be weight dropping, getting the guy/girl you like to notice you, ect…. it’s not worth it. Eating disorders are almost one of the most difficult mental issues to overcome and to understand. I’ve only just gained enough weight for my thighs to begin touching for the first time since I was born, but more importantly, I do not care about my appearance or how much I weigh for the first time in 2 years. I understand that you must feel fat, but you need to understand that eating is really important in losing weight, just as it is in gaining weight! In order to lose weight you’ll need to eat healthily, in small portions but often, and burn off more than you take in. So, for instance, the dieting amount of calories is usually about 1000 calories. So you can take that in in healthy ways (think less chocolate and crisps and more vegetables and meats!) and exercise as often as you can without pushing yourself too hard and you’ll be losing weight healthily in no time- and it means you can eat, too!
I just really do want to say that starving yourself is not a route I would even wish my worst enemy to go down. It’s horrible. The mental and physical side of anorexia, bulimia or any other sort of eating disorder is never EVER worth being skinny or losing weight, I promise.
I’m always around if you ever need help or advice, I’ll be sure to answer as soon as I can! I wish you all the best x

Here is a healthy alternative. I’m like you. I LOVE eating and I eat a LOT. Well, eat yogurt. Go on an ALL YOGURT diet. You can eat as much as you want, whenever you want, but all you can eat is yogurt. You WILL lose weight and you’ll lose it QUICK! :)
