Recently my spouse was forced to give up his career as a Construction Electrician for a more steady position. While he feels he made the right decision, the pain of relinquishing a career after a half decade of school and on-site training (not to mention thousands of dollars toward tuition), is affecting his overall well-being. It made me wonder how other spouses or couples in long-term relationships are finding a balance between their careers and relationships.
The purpose of this group is to give folks an opportunity to discuss how they are coping with balancing their careers in relation to their families. Family includes everyone, whether you have children or not, caring for an elderly parent or a disabled relative.
Were you forced to make a career change, such as my husband? Has your spouse recently taken on a job or even a second job, to help make ends meet? How has this affected your marriage or relationship?
This group is not intended to debate the ups and downs of the economy. That is not the point. The point is now you are in the situation you are in, how are you coping with it?
