Why is it easier to reach for Alcohol then it is to understand what is going on in your own mind?

When I get discouraged in some way it’s easier to grab a bottle of Alcohol then it is to understand what is going on with me.
Some say the drinking is an addiction but I don’t get the urge to drink like that I gotta have it feeling.
so is it really an addiction?

Because the alcohol numbs and distracts your brain from the issue and how important it may be. So you interpret it as being better.

If you are having issues and would rather grab a bottle than face what's going on, it may be an addiction. Or the start of one. I understand, I have been there!

It appears as if more of a subconscious issue that I'm drowning out. I don't see the drinking as an issue. I find the understanding of whatever it is on a subconscious level needs to be addressed, understood, and resolved.
