They are just a bunch of idiots who can't do anything good so they project their anger towards those who are doing good in life. they just rely on their race because they don't have anything good to brag about themselves.
But if I said something like black people look like monkeys, I would feel embarrassed I said something so rude, then I would worry nice black people in my life who have helped me, been kind to me, would hear I said such a thing, and I would feel like a hypocritical loser. Let's just say these racists don't have any non White friends, so the second part doesn't apply, but why not the first part. Could they be mentally ill? No conscience? I could never insult people, whether they were fat, poor, etc. but these type of people have no problem doing it. If you tell them what you guys said, that they are insecure, jealous, they claim that is not true, that they are superior and just can't stand to be around sub humans. I don't know how to respond. Are they dangerous? Thanks for your answers.
From a racist perspective it is exactly as you said, they believe they're superior. Something that makes them strongly convinced of that fact could be an influential event that happened to them maybe as a minor and or adolescent. Weather it was an incident that had to do with a person of that race or just a mere observation they take into consideration what they witnessed. Maybe in some cases they could potentially become violent if they have a bad temper and may come into conflict with the race they dislike. But ethically it would be considered a mental illness only because it could've been influenced upon that person, basically the person who exposed them to such behavior is to blame.Like Bandura stated in his Social Cognitive Theory, and observational learning theory, individuals learning the behaviors are results of others by observation.
Because it is an assigned mental schema. Mental schemas are the result of programming that takes place during early childhood and are generally formed between the (social) ages of 3 and 13. This is where the bulk of our programming takes place. During this time we develop ideas about the world that are morseo handed to us by others than developed based on actual life experiences. Parents,co-habitants,siblings,peers,teachers,mentors,relatives,family friends and the cultural influences that surround us where we grow up all play a large role in how we develop, which mental schemas we form and why. Racism is a philosophy- a type of mental schema that is handed down. It is important that we realize that we cannot control who we are born to,raised by nor where we were born and raised geographically. It is our role to challenge certain beliefs and values that were handed down to us as we get older and mature. Maturation is a process that should occur physically and psychologically, simultaneously. There comes a point where each person must decide how much the belief system and views they were raised to have are fair, intelligent, useful and truly align with reality as we see it and the experiences that we have as we enter the world and establish relationships. Unfortunately, because of certain mental schemas and their ability to distort our perceptions so dramatically some people never think to challenge them and so these schemas are accepted as truths and never subjected to a system of checks and balances. In some cases children of racist parents love their parents and have the same parental bond that non-racist children have with their parents. Thus they refuse to believe or accept that a parent would ever instill false truths in them or steer them wrong. Other times childhood trauma at the hands of a person of another race, coupled with
pre-existing,racist views can serve to affirm these beliefs in an individual and impact how that person views all people of that race or ethnic identity. Whether or not a person will adopt racist views and carry them into adulthood or challenge them and find a balance that makes sense to them morally is all a matter of intellect, moral compass, outside influence and geographical factors.
We should never accept what is handed to us in this world from another. Our lives are our own and thus all of our core beliefs, feelings, opinions and decisions should be made by US to ensure they are in our best interest. When you adopt racist views you segregate only yourself. You impose limitations and boundaries on yourself and most damaging of all you live life hateful, fearful and vengeful. A constantly heightened emotional state is unhealthy for not only the psyche but contributes largely to the overall decline of one's health. The message here is: Take extreme care in what you say and do. Hate is personal and is very much like poison in that it only causes harm to the one it inhabits.
Med Student: Certainly, these people are dangerous. It's a common sense conclusion because the motivating, underlying factor is hate. This is not a debate on Coke or Pepsi...this extends far beyond merely having and voicing an opinion some may find disturbing. This is a hate based belief system that often times people attempt to tether spiritual beliefs and their own identity to. Logically,if I believe a certain race of people are inferior those beliefs are going to impact my relationships with not only that group of people I am targeting but also, anyone that does not have values that align with my own. A racist person is extremely narcissistic,self-entitled and behaves with a blatant and unapologetic disregard for the rights and the feelings of others that they feel do not meet their standard. There is no ability to work past these differences with such an individual as the difference is a genetic one not a social one. These people are often extremely dangerous because as with any hate based schema it is a precursor to violent behavior. Racists do not merely sit idle on such beliefs. The goal is always to segregate, actively hate and harm those that are in any way the opposite of themselves. Racists do not acknowledge the rights of another to be different. Racists consider robotic, carbon copies of themselves to be their only equals. Imagine a group of people SO narcissistic that they feel the only day God made sense was when He created them and people like them. Everyone else in fact was a mistake...(because we all know God makes mistakes..right?) Imagine someone telling YOU or someone that you love that because you are not a replica of them you deserve to either be a slave or not inhabit THEIR world. This is the core of a racist. The philosophy is not mentally healthy,it's not attractive whether you meet that person's criteria or not,it's belligerent,it's intolerant of the diversity that makes the world a beautiful place and yes it is too often violent. It's the result of childhood trauma/programming. It's child abuse and brainwashing. It's an abuse of parental power. It creates hate and discord in the world. Does that not sound "dangerous"?
