Why do we judge ourselves?

Whenever you see another person, you make a snap judgment of them, looking for things that might be threatening, desirable, to be avoided etc. This sort of thing is harmless, unless you use it to build harmful schemas and stereotypes, which happens A LOT, and we really cannot control it. What we can do though, is recognize those feelings as wrong.

One other thing, we will sometimes make judgments to other people, comparing ourselves to them. Sometimes we compare upward, hoping to achieve what someone else has. Other times, to make ourselves feel better we judge downwards...this makes for a lot of the hurtful stuff.

Judgment is a really dicey subject. But I tried to do it justice

We're just automatically judgemental, because we know how people are 'supposed' to look and act. Even if someone was 'perfect', you'd still judge them for that. It's a confusing matter. Just try not to care too much about what people think.

Judging ourselves is sometimes good for ones motivation if he/she thinking of changing any negative elements of one self to be a better person in the future. So we are judge ourselves in order to reflect the personalities ..whether it will bring us down or up in the cycle of life.
