Why do parents think sex is bad?

I don’t quite understand why parents are afraid of teenagers having protected, consensual sex. It’s natural to feel those biological urges and to parents sex is like some horrible crime. Does anyone know why?

Society has made sex a taboo subject. We've criminalized it and we've made it something to be ashamed of. Children having sex (even if they're of sexual maturity) is a shameful thing.

That and children are notoriously irresponsible. They worry that you will become pregnant by accident and have to be their responsibility further. As well as the shaming society will give them for being an inadequate parent.

Maybe because they're afraid of accidents, like condom breaks? I could be wrong, very much so, actually, but that's just one possibility. Anyone else have an idea?

hhahah well they still think of you as their little baby and they dont like thinking of you as an adult. Plus when your a kid to be honest it most likely won't last and they don't want you getting hurt. Besides sex makes things complicated and messy you can get diseases, pregnancy a bad rep and they were raised by their more conservative parents. It's not really logical but it means they care about you and by them acting in such manner signifies they want to protect you.

Sex is a gift for couples. It's not bad. If youre doing it with your husband. But if you're barely a teenager, i think you need to postpone that and know your priorities.. which of course is your studies.

The problem with any decision is the consequences, and sex provides some big ones. STD's, pregnancy, social stress....... Sex is awesome, just be old enough to manage the consequences.
