Honestly, there is a reason. There's just not a GOOD reason. If you're talking about a Christian church, that is. In this day and age homosexuality (or lgbt etc.) is an unfortunately touchy topic. Whether anyone likes it or not you're loved by God, too. If it means a lot to you, attempt to continue to go that church, if it's not worth it, you can always look into other churches that are more loving like they're called to be. Homosexuality in itself is apparently, according to the bible (which depending on the person may or may not be taken for verbatim) a sin. You however, are a human being who was created by God and deeply loved by him because God is blind to sin. We've all done things considered sin, as you've said, and we all should have the ability to belong to a church family. On the other hand, some churches have really strange rules and strings attached to membership like no beards, handmade clothes, women can only wear skirts, no makeup, etc. But that's because those churches are a part of certain denominations. However, you make it sound like you've attended this church for at least some time and now that it has been brought to their attention that you're gay they've asked you to stop attending their particular church. To sum it up, I would really like to apologize because this happens much too often. I'm lucky to have a church that accepts all people from all walks of life including homosexuals. Let that give you hope, though, that you will find a church home where God's love and grace really shines through the people. I hope you won't be discouraged by the actions of this church. "They know not what they do."
Churches are little pockets of the dark ages. They represent people holding on to the uneducated past. It doesn't mean that religious people are uneducated, just that they believe a collection of stories created by uneducated people. These people believe in one of many thousands and thousands of Gods, and that God is a manifestation of the primitive culture that existed in the past.Homosexuality is not wrong, it is found throughout nature. However, that is an objective view. If you want to subject yourself to the views of one of many many many thousands of Gods... and in particular one of the Gods that believes homosexuality is wrong, it makes me wonder what you hope to achieve. You might as well ask "Why is the one eyed one horned flying purple people eater purple?" Because that's just what the person who created the stupid thing was thinking at the time. Do you really care what they think? Really?
It is most likely a matter of current church politics.. You can, and should, look further into churches that accept lgbt people, they are sure to preach more words of love and acceptance, than your current church. And it is NOT the sin of all sins, it's simply preached as that.
Jesus died for drug addicts, homosexuals, heterosexuals, thieves, liars, blacks, whites.... the list goes on. Just because some people do not practice what they preach does not mean you are not loved and accepted by Jesus. I am sure that you will find a church where they truly share the love of God rather than focusing on who to allow to attend the church and who to kick out. God bless.
