What to do when I’m older?

Hi, so I’m 16 years old and am in my 1st year of college/sixth form. I’m just looking for a bit of advice on some stuff and was wondering if anyone could help me out. Sorry if this is a bit of a long rant!

One of my biggest worries is what I want to do when I’m older. My passion has always been music and I absolutely love watching youtubers, and lately I’ve realised that what I would love to do with my life is to become a youtuber (like vlogs, as well as making music). I’ve already made a few music covers on my channel and have had some great feedback, and I know that if I gain a lot of subscribers, I want to start vlogging.

My problem is, is that this is a very separate thing from education and for me to be successful probably requires a lot of luck, and it is maybe unlikely that I could become youtube famous/a musician because I don’t know if I have the talent, and there’s SO MANY people who have these dreams too.
So, I was wondering if anyone had any advice about whether they think this is a realistic dream, or whether I should stay down the education route and do a degree in something that probably won’t get me the life I want, but is more achievable.

Thanks for any feedback! :)

A lot of people have a 'plan B' to fall back on if they don't get their big break. It's something to think about. I would suggest you find something you're equally passionate about. Maybe, if you really like making videos, you could major in communications and get a job in editing or filming or something.

I suggest getting an education but doing youtube on the side, if your youtube/music career does take off you will have an education, if not you can do something else

You should always follow your dreams on way or the other. You can do your YouTube thing I am sure. Quitting education for it might not be the smart thing to do however :).Think of it like this; If you get your education you can still do YouTube in the spare time like you've done now. Then if you get a job that works for you, you can get an income while you still do YouTube as a hobby (at first). In time your subscribers will build up. Your content will grow and one day before you know it your dream is right there if you work on it!So if you stick with both the education and your hobby it will evolve in time and if you have education/work you won't have to worry about just earning YouTube income etc.I hope this makes sense :) Best of luck and you can do it. Things just takes time, effort and some planning. Who knows your education might still come in handy along with your dream :)- Johan

Get an education but get one for a career you are actually interested in. Job shadow or think about what kind of job you wouldn't mind having, and then find out what field to major in so you can land that job. Living takes quite a bit of money so you definitely don't want to depend on youtube for your main income.
