What ideas to you use to get up out of the pits?

My life has about four major issues, each individually that are bugging me, together they are making things like being at work or alone unbearable. Happy music helps but I can’t listen to any at work. Any other ideas?

Happy music is always good, painting/drawing, playing guitar, watching movies I like... Focusing on my breathing and trying to clear my head helps a lot.

Possibly going to see a therapist or something of the sort who can get you medication or help in general will fix the long term problem. Try not to watch too much TV because it certainly doesn't help hah. Find something that interests you intellectually and consider doing research on it to keep your mind off of being depressed. Good luck.

when alone, I find things to keep my hands busy, ie: making bracelets, drawing, tying knots, cleaning. I find keeping my hands busy will busy my mind.

I like to google inspiring quotes about relationships, depression, life in general etc and write down anything that I find particularly moving. Meditating or just stretching also makes me feel a bit better

"This, too, shall pass."Know that whatever problems you have will go away. Granted, new problems will inevitably rise up. There will be pain throughout your life: death, relationship problems, work problems, illness, tragedy, you name it. You can't change that. People will die. People will get sick. People will get angry at you. Tragedy will befall even the most innocent of people. Here's the kicker: you can change the reaction to your pain. Understand that pain is inevitable, but suffering can diminish through the dawning of compassion and mindfulness. Here are some things to try.-Realize that you have inflicted pain on others. Through this realization, you will better be able to empathize with those causing pain in your life. -Realize that this pain is a result of people who are humans, just like you. -Finding some higher meaning (reading 'holy texts', praying/meditating, or appreciating the fundamental spirit of life) will help. -So will less ineffable things like listening to great music, reading a good book, going for a really strenuous run, or being with those you love.Inspirational quotes, writing things down, listening to music, and other remedies are great. They really are. But know that they're short-term. They're like trying to use a bandaid on a hemophiliac: it'll work for a little bit, but it won't cure anything. Just keep in mind that pain is inevitable and suffering is optional, and you will slowly begin to notice the good in all things. Have fun out there!
