Stress or something more?

Lately I’ve been experiencing hallucinations. Not visual though, mostly auditory and the feeling of someone touching me or being close to me. I’m talking to a counselor about it and we picked up a lot of it has to do with stress. She wants me to go see a specialist about it but I don’t know if I should. What should I do? If I let my parents know they’ll think I’m insane. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I think that you should be completely honest with your parents and tell them what your counselor said. Because if your counselor said that those hallucinations can be connected to stress, they won't think you're crazy. If you think that seeing a specialist will help you, i definitely think you should go for it :)

I agree with Katy on this. Be upfront and honest with your parents. Parents like to know what is going on with their children. Be open minded about things. Go see the specialist. Just because you go and see them, does not make you any less or anymore of a person. Usually the job of the specialist is to give you a better understanding of what is going on with your situation. They are trained to help you see things that you don't see yourself (no pun intended). They are there to relate your problems to situations that you may have been through and lead you into a direction to help you cope better. I hope this helps and makes some sense!

I don't think your parents will think you're insane. it's better to tell them than to keep it a secret. And if it's really, really bothering you, then you should go see a specialist about it. It does have a lot to do with stress and you might have lack of sleep. It's happened to me a couple of times, It's much better when you tell your parents :)
