Staying clean of self harm

0

Hay so I’m a teenager and I just found out that my ex girlfriend cheated on me. Our breakup was rough and I was just starting to get over it when this got dropped on me. I’ve been clear of self harm (cutting, bruising and burning) for only a couple months now and because of whats been going on I’ve been struggling to stay clean. I have tried the butterfly project and the elastic band before and they didn’t really work. I guess I just really want to kick my habits once and for all and I’m scared that this will mess it up again.

It can be tough to get over a breakup. Harming yourself will not make things better. It's good that you've been clear of self-harm and I hope it stays that way. There are other ways to cope with things. If the butterfly project and the elastic band don't work for you, you could try something else. It's not easy to get rid of a habit, it takes time. If you ever need to talk, message me anytime. I'm here for you. Here's a link to a site with many alternatives: http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f12-self-harm/t9418-alternatives-self-harm/

You always have to remember that you are human... You will hurt and that's okay... There is bad and there is good... But this is just one small part of your life and it is not worth the risk that bringing harm to yourself does... So many people are afraid to say that they are self harmers for fear they will be judged.... But no person should be judged for the choices they make... Always remember that it is always going to be down to you to make the choices... You may slip up... You may fall but if you have the strength and belief in yourself you will always get back up and be stronger for it... Another trick you might try if you feel like it is to play a song... It doesn't matter which... Something you know... A lot of people tend to go for the heavy type of music... Blast it as loud as you can and grip hold of something... Concentrate on only the words and squeeze... It keeps your hand busy and eventually you get lost in the music... I hope it helps... And always remember you are beautiful... You may not feel as though you are understood but there will always be people there to help :)
