Severe anxiety and paranoia after a night out

0

Long story short I got really drunk and ended up toking a little weed. I drunk texted this guy I really like and proceeded to apologize to him in the morning….while I was still intoxicated and feel as though I have thoroughly screwed things up with him. Now that I’ve sobered up, I am feeling extremely anxious and paranoid about this whole situation with the guy and I the paranoia is to the point where I feel that I can’t talk to anyone I know about this. I already have pre-existing social anxiety but what I’m experiencing is a completely different level.

So my question is could my mixing of alcohol and marijuana be contributing to this anxiety? The person who supplied the weed is a trusted friend and grower so laced weed is out of the question.

Also any advise on the situation with the guy? I haven’t tried venting/chatting just because I’m new to the site but if someone is willing to talk to me about it that would be great.

Hi Alex, I don't know much about alcohol causing anxiety, but I do have some advice about the guy you like. I think you should explain the situation, so he understands you were drunk and high the night before, and perhaps tell him how you feel. I doubt he's going to be mad, it might even be something you can both joke about. Despite how bad it may seem, it can only get better. Who knows, he might even like you in same way! Good luck x

Whether or not the weed was from a trusted source it still has a different effect on different people. Basically, the weed could definitely be contributing to your paranoia. When I was younger I watched 'The Matrix' after smoking weed, and I hit a whole new level of panic and paranoia. Also, the day after drinking it is normal to feel more anxious and depressed than usual. If a normal symptom of anxiety for you in paranoia, then after a night of drinking it would be a rational conclusion to assume that your hangover (technically the booze) is the cause of it. I am not against marijuana btw, but I do advise people with anxiety disorders to use extra caution when smoking it.
