Something happened yesterday, and I cannot stop thinking about it. It is something I can in no way fix, so overthinking and overanaylzing it is pointless, but I just don’t know how to stop…Any suggestions to get my mind off it or to be at peace? I’d appreciate anything.
Explore other options in your head. What if this had not happened, what if it went a different way, what if I was wearing a green shirt that day... random things to change up the patterns in your mind. Exercise your brain. Get to know the root of the problem, like why it bothers you so much. Even if you can't change it, you can imagine changing it and imagine things getting better.
Occupy yourself. If you're forced to gravitate your mind towards something else, then maybe you'll think less about this. Though sometimes you just have to give yourself time, but doing things with that time definitely helps to move forward from those thoughts.
Talk to someone. Write down your thoughts. Go for a run. Punch a wall. The best thing that I can recommend it merely, as poet said, to divert your attention to something else. Try to pick something that requires a lot of attention, or something that you really enjoy doing
I usually write in my journal, get it all on paper, help my mind calm down. Or I go for a walk with my ipod. Or even Video games?! they tend to not require a lot of thought.. So that might work with getting your mind off of it.
hello , you know that overthinking things can be so stressful so what u need to do is to occupy urself in order to forget about it , u don't want to tire urself out , so try to go out with ur friends ,do some sports or anything to stop urself from thinking about it .
The best way to deal with this is by not judging your thoughts and telling them to go away because of how you feel, but instead the way you can deal with this is by observing the thought or thoughts with love and don’t try to argue with just observe it and continue on with your day. The less attention you give it the less power it has, the attention I’m talking about is judging the thought. So just watch it like your watching clouds go by, not judging, but observing them going by until they fade away.
