My grades…

So, I’m an A and B student, and now my grades have plummeted to C’s, D’s, and F’s in English, but I’m doing good in the rest of my classes. What should I do?

It's important that you go and speak to your teacher/lecturer to find out why you have not been doing so well in that class. It might be that you are having a learning block with the material - in which case maybe ask for some extra help. Or if you feel confident with the material, it could be that you are not expressing yourself in a way that the marking scheme requires. If this is the case, make sure you ask exactly what you are being marked on and how important each area of marking is (e.g. is content or style more important?).

Talk to your teacher about it, try to understand if you're just not doing your work, or not understanding it. Maybe join study hall, and put a little more extra effort into working on that class. You really, really need to talk to your teacher to see if there is anything extra you can do though. A lot of teachers offer different options or help if you are falling behind.

I suggest talking to your teacher, and if possible going in for extra help with the material you are having difficulty with. I always find it helpful to review the notes later that day, and go over examples or past worksheets on the material you are focusing on.
