Media Studies GCSE

I’m really freaking out thinking about this, I’m taking a GCSE in Psychology and a GCSE in Law this year, and I’m finding them both relatively okay so far. I am considering asking to take a Media Studies GCSE out of school hours (catchups and in my own home) as well, on top of these.

Does anyone know how hard Media Studies GCSE is and if I’d be able to handle the pressure of those 3 difficult GCSE’s all together?

I was going to study Media Studies at AS level last year, but due to my own circumstances I opted out. I have friends who did it at AS and are doing it now in A2. All of the feedback I've gotten from them is that it's an easy to handle subject, if you keep on top of your work. If you get lazy that's really the only way you'll fail. But if you make sure you do everything you need to then it would be okay. In my opinion I wouldn't take it on just due to the fact of extra stress. I know GCSE's are hardly anything compared to A-Levels in terms of stress/work, but just to be safe I'd leave it. If media is something you want to peruse in you don't really need it as a GCSE. Some people try to say GCSE's are important, yeah they are for getting into A-Level, but most employers don't really care about GCSE's. Also most sixthforms/colleges don't require a GCSE in order to study A-Level media. Sorry for the long explanation, but I'd stick to the ones you're already doing, so that way you can focus more on them and get yourself a great grade in the exam :)

It's easy, like, super easy, as long as you're willing to put the time in. It is not a stressful subject at all.

I'm currently doing the GCSE for it, and it's pretty easy. As long as you have time, you can get it done. Honestly, I think you could do it.

I'm doing GCSE Media Studies at school and I find it relatively easy. You learn a lot of new and interesting things, but there are big pieces of coursework that I found very stressful. As long as you have a lot of free time and are organised, you should be fine.

I did Media Studies in school and I got full marks. It's actually really easy to do, like others said just put in the time. It helps a lot to keep a detailed "log" so that at the end of the lesson you say what you've accomplished and things you found difficult in the lesson so that when it comes to the evaluation you can fully evaluate your work.As long as you keep organised and up to date it shouldn't be a problem. You will most likely be in a group so you'll have others to talk about with your work. The most important thing I can tell you is make sure you save EVERYTHING. For example, at the end of each lesson whatever you're working on save it under different names like "Poster 1" and "Poster 2" so that when you come to do the evaluations, you can visually see your progress. The only people who fail Media are the people who do nothing. You get as good as you put in.
